What does the "World and I" online resource have to do with "Expansion of Mind and Heart"?
It is just one avenue to assist in the expansion of the mind and heart. It is a great cross-curricular resource that includes thousands of Lesson Plans with questions and activities to stimulate thinking deeper on topics in a variety of categories.
Another way to utilize the "World and I" is to find each course's national standards. Each standard has a variety of articles with lesson plans. These standards can expand the learning in those courses beyond the curriculum the students are currently using. You can find yearly teaching guides based on the "World and I" national standards' lesson plans here.
If there is a particular topic the student is interested in or has a passion for, that topic can be explored through articles found in a search for articles within the "World and I" archive. For instance, the WorldandISchool.com presents a glorious array of collections for the arts curricula. Painters, sculptors, and others from around the world are highlighted in the Art collection. Music features everything from composers and vocalists to music genres and festivals. Explore the Dance, Theater, Architecture, and Craft & Design collections as well.
What is the grade level of the "World and I" articles?
Many of the articles are written in language that may be challenging for middle and high school students. Reading on a higher than comfortable level is a good practice and the articles are usually not too long. Using the teacher's guides along with the articles will strengthen and student's reading and comprehension as well as broaden their minds.
