What does Renzulli Learning have to do with "Realizing a Unique Genius?
· One of our hopes is that programs can be created to teach with individual interaction and assessment built in freeing, even challenging, teachers to address questions raised by the students. Subjects can be taught with the individual in mind so that no one ever experiences the stigma of being slow or the ego of being advanced. Educational games can stimulate insightful action and visionary perception while children learn at their own pace. By allowing the students to follow their own pace and individualized portfolios, students can discover what areas they are better in than others. Through utilizing the differential engine in Renzulli Learning system, students can discover how they learn best and what areas they find are more stimulating.
· Another purpose for the Renzulli Learning System is to incorporate substantial projects or work stations available to students to learn by doing something worthwhile. Challenges would need to be thought out, tested, and tweaked until its successful completion. Renzulli Learning System has a wizard project maker that students can either make their own projects or find a super starter project to develop. By doing projects and working through the path from creation, step by step, to completion, students can develop their individual talents and find their passions.
· Let us guide students to find their passions and prepare to work in a field where they can express their hearts, feel joy, an be empowered from within. The Personal Success Plan in the Renzulli Learning System is appropriate for students from middle school and high school. It takes them on a path of discovery. (See the YouTube below.)
Why would I need to supplement the regular curriculum with Renzulli Learning System?
Renzulli Learning System explains:
"The main goal of the Renzulli Learning System is to provide students with experiences that help them enjoy the process of learning through their personal engagement. Engagement is achieved by providing students with highly challenging but personally meaningful activities that take into account their academic strengths, interests, and learning style preferences. We all know from our own experiences that when we do something we enjoy and when we are personally engaged we are motivated to pursue greater challenges and to develop a sense of self-satisfaction and accomplishment. People who love their work or in students who really like what they are doing are engaged in their work. We often see excellent examples of personal engagement in students who are highly involved in extracurricular activities. Our goal in Renzulli Learning is to create the same kind of engagement in the academic curriculum.
Personal engagement can predict school success better than test scores. If a student is truly engaged in mathematics, for example, he or she will work harder, improve their achievement, and take harder courses as they progress through the grades. Engagement is the engine that drives students to do things they find enjoyable and creates the passion that leads to important accomplishments. Engagement also creates energy, curiosity, self-motivation and the organizational and time management skills necessary to accomplish personally important tasks.
We know that teachers are under tremendous pressure to increase scores on standardized tests, and this pressure has limited opportunities for students to become truly engaged in some of their own interests and, in some cases, to pursue content matter in depth. When students learn something in depth by becoming personally engaged, they can take responsibility for their own learning and prepare them for higher education and the roles that are necessary in today’s technological and information-intensive economy. And our research has shown that achievement scores increase when this happens.
Why is the type of learning in the Renzulli Learning System important? Young people who enjoy the process of learning, who know how to become personally engaged, and how to pursue topics in depth will emerge as the most successful college students and the leaders, inventors, and original contributors to their chosen careers and professions. Renzulli Learning is important because it provides an important but sometimes missing supplement to the regular school curriculum. By using research-based individual strength assessment techniques, and using the vast array of resources available through the Internet, teachers will have the equivalent of a dozen teaching assistants in their classrooms. The Renzulli Learning System gives teachers the kind of educational resource procurement that the Google web site gives seekers of general information."
What does Renzulli Learning offer parents?
In Renzulli Learning, parents also have their own web site to chart their child’s progress and view his or her profile. Articles are selected just for parents, as are helpful links to web sites that help parents and are updated on a regular basis. Parents can help their child pursue their special interests by helping them buy or find the books they select as favorites, or helping them participate in on-line creative writing competitions and supporting them as they pursue independent projects and virtual field trips, as well as all of the other options available in Renzulli Learning.

How did Renzulli Learning originate?
Renzulli Learning is a completely new adaptation of work that is based on almost 30 years of research designed to help students learn more about their own interests and talents. Taking advantage of state of the art technology, Renzulli Learning searches out an enormous amount of information on the web to find enriching, challenging differentiated enrichment opportunities for all students in their areas of interest and choice. Renzulli Learning is based on research conducted by Dr. Joseph Renzulli and Dr. Sally Reis of the University of Connecticut’s Neag School of Education. This research suggests that students achieve at higher levels when they pursue topics and activities of personal interest and that enrichment can be provided to all students through the use of Renzulli Learning.
How does Renzulli Learning System work?
First, students 2nd grade and above are asked to answer a series of questions about their interests and the ways they like to learn. After answering these questions, the Renzulli Learning System provides a written profile that summarizes their talents, interests, and learning styles. Then, a special series of interesting and challenging activities are selected for each student. Students in Kindergarten and 1st grade have access to the same customization but it is not required.
When first logging on to Renzulli Learning, students easily learn how to respond to a user-friendly series of questions. When students complete this assessment, a profile of their learning instantly appears, followed by a detailed and comprehensive choice of many exciting learning opportunities and a wide array of enrichment activities that are constantly being updated.
How do I use the enrichment activities?
Sign-in to Renzulli Learning. Click the Renzulli Profiler button in the top orange banner. Make sure puzzle pieces 1-4 are complete. Then you may click the My Enrichment Activities button in the top orange banner. After the My Enrichment Activities page is displayed, you may click on any icon to view Enrichment Activities for the specific category. A comprehensive list of Enrichment Activities displays including websites, pdf files, books, e-books, and DVDs.
How do I use the Wizard Project Maker?
Sign-in as a Student, and after completing your profile, click “My Portfolio.” Click the “Wizard Project Maker” icon. Click to create your own project. Type in the name of the project and click Save and Go to Wizard. You can now begin to fill-in the blanks for each section of the Wizard Project Maker. Before you leave the Wizard Project Maker, be sure to click Save.
How do I Search for Enrichment Activities?
Sign-in as a Student and click the “My Enrichment Activities” link. Then click the “Search Enrichment Activities” button and the Search Enrichment Activities page will be displayed. Follow the directions on the screen. See the section of the User Guide for Students for more information.
How do I ask to have more information posted on a specific topic?
From the student’s homepage, click the red Help tab and fill out the "Contact Us" form. In the comment section please include the topic that you hope will have more Enrichment Activities. This suggestion will be considered as they continually add Enrichment Activities to improve the Renzulli Learning System. Thank you for taking the time and effort to help them improve their system for all students.
How do I get to the “games?”
This is THE most frequently asked question by students. The Renzulli Learning Site is all about exploring your interests; and although it is not a “game site,” it does include many learning games related to math, social studies and science, as well as some for writing and the arts. The best way to find games, therefore, is to search within your interest areas or classroom project topics and explore the many different activities available. Some of them will be games!
