How Projects in GoQuest are Implemented in the Core Courses
GoQuest is utilized in the courses by the assignments in Schoology. Depending on the grade level, assignments are created. In the younger grades, there might be a choice of a Wizard Project Maker Super Starter. As with most activities in GoQuest, the links and options in the projects or searches are tailor created based on the individual student profile.
In Middle School and High School, students often have the option to do a GoQuest Project of their choice related to a core subject. This gives students the opportunity to delve into something of interest and it allows students the opportunity to see their small efforts produce a result over time. The courses in Schoology give students guidelines and assignments for the project. They also receive grades and credit for their incremental efforts. The process of doing a project not only allows the student to pursue an interest but it stimulates personal motivation in a subject. For instance, sometimes students are asked to share their ideas for projects on the discussion board. Not only can they have some communication with others about their project but they can get ideas to get started. It's possible for students to work on a project together is they so desire.
How the Search in GoQuest is Implemented in the Core Courses
The core courses that are set up in Schoology include the option to do a different assignment if the student has not understood or received a good grade in the Compass Learning Odyssey lessons. The student (or Parent) can do a search on that topic in GoQuest and do an alternative lesson. The student then needs to summarize what they learned doing the activities in GoQuest to get credit and raise their grade.
